OLTCHIM Tomorrow

Constant improvement is one of OLTCHIM's core values. We have initiated an extensive modernization and revamping programme which will be finished in 2010. Subsequently, OLTCHIM will become a more flexible and high-performing company, with an involved team, with the lowest impact upon the environment and having close relationships with the community.

Our efforts are focused on the personnel, the technological processes, the range of products, the environmental protection and on the quality culture.

Revamping

We are always up-to-date with the latest technologies and breakthroughs. in chemistry. We constantly innovate through our research activity. All this, in order to be able to provide the best products with a minimal impact over the environment. Our objectives to be achieved by the end of 2010 are as follows:

• continuous modernization and revamping of Polyvinyl Chloride I and II , Propylene Oxide, Polyether Polyols plants.
• a new electrolysis with ion-exchange membrane that will replace the old electrolysis based on mercury.
  
• a new vinyl chloride plant based on an international state of the art technology.

Quality

Quality starts with people. We realized this long time ago and we focus on creating a quality culture within the company. As far as quality is concerned, we are keen on improving the working environment, the products, customer service and the distribution. We get the teams involved in the quality assurance and certification processes in order to raise their awareness of quality.

OLTCHIM has been one of the first companies to receive quality certificates in Romania and we wish to continue this tradition as regards the quality standards that will be required in the future. The award by UAQ-EFQM of the certificate “Recognised for Excellence in Europe” in 2005 is an important step forward in the process of obtaining the European Quality Prize, to be obtained by 2010.

The Environment

If you meet personally the OLTCHIM team, you will recognize that they share a common feature: the respect for the environment. The environment provides us with resources that we need, our families need to benefit from a clean environment. That is why we do our best to minimise as much as possible the impact on the environment.

We develop long-term environmental protection programs which refer both to minimizing the consequences of “past pollution” and to retrofitting in order to maintain a minimum impact upon the environment in the future.

By 2014 we intend to achieve the following objectives:

• modernization of the two existing plants for the treatment of used waters
• purchase of an an incinerator for liquid and gaseous organic - chlorinated residuals
• closing the current landfills for hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials
• opening modern landfills for hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials
• monitoring emissions and immissions in the air

We care about the quality of air, water and soil and we will take all necessary measures to protect them in the best manner.

Products

Our products -a better life for the people worldwide. You cand find OLTCHIM in the plastics all around you, in the construction materials of the house you live in and in many other places that have an influence on your lifestyle.

Our products, either Caustic Soda, Propylene Oxide, Propylene Glycol and Polyether Polyols, Chlorsodics or construction materials are highly appreciated in all the 80 countries in which OLTCHIM is present.

We wish to offer as many solutions as possible in order to improve the lives of the people around us. That is why we will also provide products of the isocyanates type (TDI) to obtain systems of polyurethanic foams, a product which has become very necessary nowadays.
